Concept
We are counting days before the official announcement of the first Work Programme of Widening Participation and Strengthening of the European Research Area. Its antecedent programme “Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation” gave opportunities to research-based institutions in widening countries gain access to excellence, attract new talents and receive state support from mainstreaming investments. Recognising the popularity and the need for more widening measures, Horizon Europe will be introducing a widening package going beyond the “traditional core actions” of Teaming, Twinning and ERA Chairs with more activities and almost triple budget.
This event is dedicated to one of the main three core actions, the ERA Chairs. This funding instrument provided host organisations under the guidance of an outstanding researcher and its team, the roadmap for achieving excellence and implement institutional reforms for a sustainable impact within the institution and beyond.
Selected mature ERA Chair grantees will share with Stakeholder community as well as NCPs, important takeways from proposal writing, project implementation, challenges/rewards and impact. In a panel discussion, the representatives of ERA will briefly share in a discussion mode with the moderator how they believe their projects contribute to the four priorities of the new European Research Area
- prioritising investments and reforms
- improving access to excellence
- translating R&I results into the economy
- deepening the ERA (citizen science, gender balance, open science)
